A gin inspired by one of Scotland’s favourite drinks has proved hugely popular north of the border – and it’s not whisky.

Owners at a top-selling gin company have said that the sales of Iron Brew flavoured gin is in huge demand.

The tipple is made by The Bolton Gin company and is regularly shipped from Bolton, Lancashire to homes across Scotland.

The alcohol is 31.5 per cent and is mixed with lemonade for a taste like no other.

Paul Welch and his business partner Mark Barnes set up the gin business a year ago and have been blown away with the supply and demand in the country.

Paul said: “We ship a lot of the Iron Brew to Scotland and it is so popular there. People say it is just like the nation’s favourite tipple when they mix it with lemonade.”

The founders of The Bolton Gin Company said that they are the number one seller of gin on Amazon and make some delicious flavours including black jack and candyfloss.

Now that the restrictions are in place across Scotland the company owners said they expect more orders of Iron brew gin.

Paul said: “People will be drinking at home more than ever so we will be making sure there’s enough to go around.”
